I recently read William Shawcross's biography of the Queen Mother and was slightly surprised to learn of her?

close friendship with the poet Ted Hughes. (Yes, THAT Ted Hughes, Poet Laureate and the much, perhaps unfairly, maligned widower of Sylvia Plath.) Give that the UK royals, outside of the Prince of Wales' serious interest in architecture, are not widely known for their involvement in the arts, I wondered: have any of the other royals in history had a close friendship with a poet? Or, at least, a favorite poet? I can think of two such relationships. How about you?
